About Andy
Andy Giller was born and raised in Swampscott Massachusetts. The last child of the four children born to Harold and Lois Giller. With ten years between him and the next in line he tagged along with Dad to work to keep him out of mom's hair. From what we hear as soon as he'd come through the door he was asking Dad for money so he could run next door to McDonalds for an Egg McMuffin.
Some will tell you he worked his first job at New Angle (he assumed this was the only place to work) vacuuming out cars, being a gopher or cleaning the shop. Then again others can't remember Andy doing much more than hanging at the office. When he was old enough he would drive customers to and from the office when necessary.
Of course being around the office he learned the ropes but as he says. I never wanted to stay in this business. "My plans upon graduating Curry college were to work in Human Resources for a large car company." Unfortunately for Andy but fortunately for the company, the job market was bad. He stayed with New Angle.
His job was as a customer service representative. Dad was just always around. Back then the business just rolled along. The business relied on loyalty of friends and business associates. It's area was basically around Lynn. This was fine back then since no one else was in the area, but things started to change when the big glass companies started to expand into the area. With the hustling of these companies it was only a matter of time when they began to lose business.
Andy's Dad passed away in May of 1995. Andy remained in the office as a customer service representative but financially the business wasn't doing well. If the business and everyone it affected was to survive he had to rebuild it. The only way was to get out there. He went out and started relationships with new contacts and maintained the existing ones. He was getting positive results. He also realized they needed to branch out with more locations. They already had a Salem location but more would be needed. He also added some part time sales people. In five years sales had doubled.
Anyone who has met Andy knows he had found his calling. Andy was a natural. Say his name and immediately a smile comes and someone says, isn't he just the nicest guy you've ever met. He is welcomed into any business he visits with cheers of, "Hey it's Andy!"
